Overview
Teachers may need to move Gradebook Sections and then export the old grades to the new Periods to keep the connection between the previous and current section numbers. Assignments and grades are stored in the course itself. So, when you move a section out of a course number, assignments and scores need to be re-entered. The process for merging the sections and transferring grades is outlined here.
Prerequisites
- If you are a Teacher, then, you have one or more active courses assigned to you.
- If an Assignment is already created by a Teacher in the Gradebook section, then, the Gradebook can be moved only by an Admin.
- The Course to which you want to move the Section is already created. Note: If the required course is missing and needs to be created, reach out to your School Administrator to create it for you.
Solution
Depending on the scenario outlined above, you would need to follow either (a) or (b) -
(a) If you are an Admin and have been asked by a Teacher to move & merge a Gradebook section, then the process for the same is available in Moving Gradebook Sections for Admins.
(b) If you are a Teacher and need to move & merge a Gradebook section from one Course to another, then the steps outlined in Moving & Merging Gradebook Sections for Teachers need to be followed.
Once this movement is complete, if there were any Student Grades in the previous section, then, they can be exported using Transfer Grades Between Periods.
Confirmation
After following the above steps, the Sections can be seen under the expected Courses and if the grades were transferred, then, they can be seen in the new Sections. All of these can also be confirmed from the above mentioned Knowledge Base Articles.
