Overview
When creating or updating a School Site, webmasters need to add additional modules. Modules are code bundles with predefined functions. They enable webmasters to easily add various objects to their sites: links, buttons, images, videos, calendars, news, etc.
Prerequisites
You have a School Loop account with Webmaster rights.
Note: If not, you can ask any Webmaster to provide the same rights to you.
Solution
- Log into your school loop account with Webmaster rights.
- From Toolbox, select Site Center.
Note: If this option is missing, you do not have webmaster rights. - Select the page you want to modify and click Edit.
If the page is located under a minisite (like on the image below), you need to click on the minisite first and then select the page.
Also, you can create a new page. - Hover over an existing module or free space on the page and click on the Plus sign at the place where you want to add a module.
- On the new page:
- Under General tab select and configure one of the available modules (using the links below):
- Assignment - Is mostly used on teacher sites to display active assignments for a certain course.
- Badge - Add an image with a title, containing a link to another page.
- Button - Add link buttons in various formats and sizes.
- Calendar - Add a calendar that shows events for a certain site, class, or group.
- Custom HTML - Add an object with your custom HTML (recommended for advanced users only).
- File List - Add a list with links to files uploaded to the site or selected from Locker.
- Image - Post a picture on your site.
- Link List - Post a list of links to various resources (external pages, downloadable files, etc.).
- Locker - Display the contents of any Locker folder that update dynamically.
- News - Display News directly on your page with publishing and expiry dates.
- Notes - Add Notes to your page that are formatted like blog entries. They have a Publish date but do not expire.
- RSS Feed - Embed an RSS Feed to your page.
- Parent Square - Embed a Parent Square RSS Feed.
- Showcase - Add a section containing a placeholder for image, title, and button (with a link).
- Staff Directory - Add a section displaying selected staff members, including links to their websites and the option to send a message.
- Text - Add an editable text module.
- Title - Add an editable header in sizes from H2 to H5.
- Twitter Feed - Embed a Twitter feed directly into your page.
- Video - Upload or add from Locker video in MP4 or MOV format.
- Select the Layout tab to add a new section with columns; you will be able to insert modules in these sections. These sections include separated columns in various widths, allowing you to control the display of your content.
- Select the Carousel tab to add slideshows on your site. You can select one of the available formats for your slideshow.
- Under General tab select and configure one of the available modules (using the links below):
- Once you have added and configured the required module, click Publish Changes.
Confirmation
- Once you published the page, click Logout.
- Your school homepage is displayed; click on the corresponding minisite and select the page that you have created.
The page with a new module is displayed.
