Overview
At the beginning of a new term, teachers encounter an issue that their course gradebook is displaying grades for the previous term or semester. This issue occurs when dates of both gradebooks overlap, and the new gradebook includes grades from the previous period.
Diagnosis
- Open the required gradebook by clicking Gradebooks and selecting the corresponding course.
- Check the start date of the gradebook - it includes the duration of the previous term (semester, quarter, etc.). Hence, the old assignments are displayed.
Solution
- Click Gradebooks and select Add/Edit Gradebook under the corresponding course.
- All gradebooks for the course are displayed. Click Edit next to the new gradebook (with incorrect dates).
As you can see on the image below the dates for both gradebooks overlap. - Update the name for the gradebook (if needed) and set the start date on the next day after the old gradebook ends:
- Click Submit.
Confirmation
- Open the required gradebook by clicking Gradebooks and selecting the corresponding course.
- There should be no assignments related to the previous term in the new gradebook (also, the start date is now correct):
