Overview
Once district admins install Sloopy, they can automate daily import by creating an automated task, which enables keeping the School Loop data updated. It is also fine to have Sloopy running imports over weekends and holidays.
Prerequisites
You are a District Admin and you have installed and configured Sloopy.
Solution
On the same machine where you have installed Sloopy, perform the steps below:
- From the Windows Search menu, find and run Task Scheduler.
- From the Actions menu, click Create Task.
- If you already have a task that is disabled, right-click on it and select Enable.
- If you already have a task that is disabled, right-click on it and select Enable.
- On the General tab, name the task
Sloopy
and enable the following options:- Run whether user is logged on or not
- Run with highest privileges
- On the Triggers tab, click New.
- On the new page:
- Select begin the task On a schedule.
- Set the task to run Daily.
- Set the start time between 01:00 AM and 06:00 AM.
- Click OK once done.
- On the Actions tab, click New.
- In the new window:
- Select action - Start a program.
- Click Browse and select the sloopy.bat file from the folder where you have configured Sloopy.
In this example, we selected the file from the Generic folder as we use Tab-delimited data files (we do not use specific SIS like Aeris, PowerSchool, which have separate folders and configuration).
- Copy the path to the Sloopy folder in the Start in field and click OK.
Note: Do not use quotes and do not include the sloopy.bat file in the path.
- Click OK to create the task. No need to change the defaults on the other tabs.
Confirmation
After the configured data import time (step 5) is passed, you can confirm that the data was imported to School Loop:
- Log in to your District Admin account.
- Open School Site List:
The last import date is displayed for the corresponding school. It should match your current date.
