System Error Shown When Downloading Gradebook

Overview

You may face an issue where you get a System Error when trying to download a Gradebook.

Solution

This issue usually happens when the gradebook being downloaded contains more than the limit of 255 assignments. Before downloading, check the number of assignments in the gradebook. If the number of assignments is greater than 255, proceed with the steps below.

  1. Split the gradebook into N* number of assignments that is less than 255 by using Add & Edit Gradebook.
  2. Download each customized gradebook. 

    Gradebook can now be downloaded as separate files.

    If you wish to combine multiple files into a single file, downloaded files can be merged using Excel, or any similar application. Merging data can be done by copy-pasting the latter file's content to the former and saving it as an updated file.

The agent must reproduce the issue and search for the error message using the teacher ID as explained in Searching for Error Messages in School Loop Logs. If the error found is the following:

It means the error is being caused by a permission issue on the file system used by the gradebooks. A Customer Defect Jira similar to the one in SCLOOPW-30074 should be created.
